~PETITE WITCH~

Well, Summer is on it's way out and soon the cool, crisp days of Fall will be here. Along with it comes the Autumn Holidays.

For the Halloween Holiday I have a petite Witch, small in stature but big on details. She stands about 19" tall from her little black flats to the point of her hat. I made her of aged muslin. Her round head has a needle-stitched nose and green eyes and black lips drawn with artists pencils. I shaded, highlighted and blushed her face to give her a soft, not so scarey, whimsical look.

Her brown wool hair is stitched to her head, perched atop her head is her pointed "Witch's" hat. I made this of aged black cotton that has orange circles on it. The trim around the crown of the hat is made of twisted black and orange chenille stems.

Her little black flats are painted and aged and have black velvet trim.

~CLOSE-UP~

I love her dress! I made it of quilt shop fabrics. The bodice is a black on black design of stripes, vines and leaves. The full skirt is an orange/black print. It consists of horizontal bands of black with orange moons and stars and orange bands featuring a black scene of houses, trees, black cats and black stars, bats and flying witches in the nighttime sky. I hand-hemmed the skirt, neckline and sleeves. Around her waist is tied black velvet ribbon, accenting it is a twisted circle of orange and black chenille stems.

Underneath her dress is a doubled layer of orange tulle that's dusted with black and silver glitter. Her pantaloons are made of aged orange cotton, the hems are done with black floss.

Witch is holding her prized Jack-O-Lantern. It's made of painted, aged muslin. I drew the face and did all the shading with artists pencils. The stem is a twisted green chenille stem.

She would be a perfect Halloween touch for your home and looks equally good hanging or sitting, perhaps leaning against a pumpkin or JOL. She is a Tallowberry Primitives Original and will come signed and dated.

~JACK~O~LANTERN~MAKE-DO~

My second offering is perfect for the entire Fall season. It's a small Pumpkin Make-Do that stands between 7 and 8" tall.

He's made of painted, aged muslin and has a needle-sulpted nose. His green eyes, black lips, brows and all shading, blushing and high-lighting is also done with artists pencils. His black top hat is made of aged wool. The hatband is plaid cotton in fall colors. Rusty pinned to the hat is a tag stamped ~JACK~O~LANTERN~. I added orange and black stripes around the tag. The pumpkin is secured on a 2 & 1/4" antique bobbin that has remnants of black paint. I didn't have to do anything to the bobbins, they're perfect as is. Under the pumpkin, tied around the bobbin is aged, orange stained cheesecloth.

These are signed and dated as Tallowberry Primitive Originals. Just a perfect , small accent for Autumn.

Thank you for stopping by and remember to come back the night of the 14th for our next update. Please remember if you ever have any questions, comments or would like to be added to my email list for updates just drop me a line. Join me next month when I'll probably be starting my Holiday 2008 Collection. Thank you. ~Diane~
