This watercolor is my own design that was inspired by the PA German frakturs of the late 1700s and early 1800s. It is worked in shades of colonial blue and sepia and is surrounded by an intricate border of the same colors. I have detailed everything with sepia India ink and aged the painting. It is signed and dated Lana Manis 2008. The wood frame was an old one that I found in an antiques shop, painted black, sanded, and then gave a hand rubbed beeswax finish. Artwork is 8” x 10”, overall size including the frame is 10” x 12”. It is backed with brown paper and has screw eyes and wire for hanging.
The original artwork was done by me with colonial blue and sepia brown watercolors and outlined with sepia India ink. They were inspired by fraktur work of the Ephrata Cloister Illuminations done in the mid to late 18th century. This set consists of 6 cards / 2 of each print. They feature high-resolution copies of my original watercolors. They are printed on matte photo paper, cut with a decorative edge, and affixed to each card. A small label with the artist's information is on the back of the card. These sets are made from heavyweight brown cards and envelopes. The cards are 4" x 5.5".
$10 (set of 6)
