~* Three Lil’ Witches Are We!*~

Fires burn, cauldrons bubble… these three sisters are brewing up trouble!
Well… maybe not exactly trouble, I myself think they’re just too nice for that!
Hmm, maybe they’re brewing up sweet treats for us?

I’d like to present to you my first Hallowe’en witches of 2008.
The three sisters Drucilla, Drucinda and Delphina with their animal spirit friends.

They’re a Homestead Gatherings Original Creation and will come to you signed and dated.

Overall they each measure 28” tall from their pointed witch shoes to the tip of their hats.

Their bodies are made from aged osnaburg fabric and their arms are wired for gentle posing to hold their little friends. I’ve rag stuffed their torsos so they sit nicely. There’s also a hanger attached to their backs if you wish them to hang from a cupboard door, etc.

They each have needle sculpted and painted facial features. I’ve added shading around their eyes and noses. Their mouths are stitched with black floss thread and cheeks are lightly blushed. I then sealed their faces for preservation.

Drucilla is holding her bat Herman, Drucinda is holding her frog Newton and Delphina is holding her cat Munster.

Drucilla’s hair is black wool and she has brown eyes, Drucindas hair is pumpkin orange wool and she has green eyes, Delphina’s hair is auburn red wool and she has violet eyes.
The wool is securely needle felted to their heads.

The witch dresses (lightly aged with an unscented stain) are each made from a wonderful Jack O’ Lantern print fabric in three different colors. One teal, one black and one lime.

Their underskirts and pantaloons are made with nicely coordinating quilt shop fabrics.

All the clothing edges are turned under and I’ve finished the hems with hand stitching.

Their shoes are painted black and their stocking are painted with black and white stripes then sanded and aged.

The witches hats are made from painted, sanded and aged muslin. Around the hat I've handstitched harlequin printed grosgrain ribbon in complimentary colors.
The hats can be removed as I only attached them with T pins.

The animals are made from painted sanded and aged muslin. They have painted and stitched facial features.
I’m absolutely delighted with how they each turned out!

The bat wings have wires in them so they can be posed in different ways. The little frog has the cutest (and the tiniest I've ever seen)little antique shoe buttons for eyes. I love the vintage look of the cats facial features.

Paying attention to each and every detail is what I feel makes them all so special!

I hope you enjoy them as much as I did creating them!
