This Pilgrim Make-Do couple is ready to welcome the Harvest into your home. John and Sarah are made from stained muslin and mounted to a vintage bobbin that is attached to a painted wood base. John is 24” tall and Sarah is 21” tall. Both have stitched and painted facial features, gently wired arms, and stitched fingers. They have sheep’s wool hair that has been carefully sewn into place.
John’s pilgrim suit is made from a warm brown twill fabric with a wonderful silk-like golden fabric used for his collar and sleeve cuffs. His shirt adorns vintage shoe buttons and a belt made from soft leather and a vintage buckle. John is holding a painted fabric turkey.

Sarah’s dress and apron are made from quilt shop quality fabrics in prints that coordinate nicely with John’s. Hard to see in the pictures, her apron fabric has acorns and leaves scattered on a warm background. Sarah is holding a small painted fabric pumpkin.
These original Pilgrims will come signed and dated.
I am honored to have been chosen into Early American Life Magazine's Directory of Traditional American Crafts, 2008 Holiday Issue. It "is an honor bestowed on a handful of artisans who work in traditional media, styles, and crafts, an award that singles out their work as the best now produced in America today."
Those chosen are selected by a jury of museum curators, collectors, dealers, and respected authors. My work was chosen for the category of Santa's.
Sarah is $145.00 plus $8.50 shipping (in the US 48 states).
